WATERVILLE -- Marie A. Roy, 93, died on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville.She was born in St. Prosper, Canada, on Aug. 16, 1912, the daughter of Eugene and Amanda (Poulin) Paradis. A lifelong resident of Winslow, she was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and served on the church life committee. She was a member of the Secular Franciscans, Daughters of Isabella, where she was an officer for the club, and was a member of the Maine Mothers. Marie was a 13-year volunteer for the hospital, and she also volunteered for RSVP doing work for The Home for Little Wanderers. She was predeceased by her husband, William Roy; a son, Rodney Roy; and two brothers, Alfred and Ernest Paradis. Surviving are a sister, Melena LaBonte of Augusta; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Miller of Winslow; three grandchildren, Kristin Murch and her husband, Stephen, of Turner, Karla Connor and her husband, Sean, of Abington, Mass., and Kenneth Roy, currently serving in the armed forces in Baghdad, Iraq; two great-grandchildren, Kassie Murch and Cara Murch; as well as several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at St. John the Baptist Church, Winslow. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that due to her granddaughter's disabilities, donations be made to: United Way of Androscoggin County, P.O. Box 888, Lewiston, ME 04243. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Home for all their comfort and care given to Marie, as well as the staff at 3 North at Thayer.
