Richard “Dick” Paradis, 64, passed away December 2, 2005 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and grew up in Maine, where he graduated from Maine Central Institute and attended St. Frances College. He moved to Jacksonville 3 Ú years ago from Jasper, Texas where he was a long time resident. Mr. Paradis was a long time employee at Sam Rayburn Country Club in Sam Rayburn, Texas and former owner of Captain John's Cove Marina in Toledo Bend, Texas. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Paradis was an avid golfer and fisherman, and was a skilled craftsman. He was predeceased by his parents, Romeo and Ruth Paradis. Survivors include his wife, Caroline Steinmeyer; daughter, Susan Luchtman; two sons, Richard “Rick” Paradis, Jr. (Kristen) and James J. Paradis (Jaime); and three grandchildren, Daniel, Ashley and William. A memorial service in Jasper, Texas will be announced at a later date.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
