MILLERSBURG - Gerald "Jerry" Parenteau, 80, of Millersburg, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at home.He was born May 20, 1925 in Detroit, the son of John Baptiste and Clara (Marti) Parenteau. On Oct. 28, 1946, he married Theresa C. Heron in Detroit. They were married for nearly 59 years. Twenty-two years ago, Jerry and Theresa moved to Millersburg permanently. Jerry worked as a driver-owner, hauling cars for M&G Convoy of Detroit. He retired in 1982. For a short time Jerry worked for Standard Plumbing and Heating in Onaway.Jerry was very active with St. Paul's Catholic Church. He was a member of the St. Paul's Men's Club and served as president and also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as a treasurer as well as calling bingo. He bowled on the K of C Bowling League and was part of the championship team. Jerry was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5857 in Onaway and called bingo at the Post.Jerry served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He served in the Pacific Theatre and the Occupation of China.Survivors include his wife, Theresa, of Millersburg; three daughters, Patricia (Gary) DeCarlo of Harrison Township, Mich., Renee (John) Glass of Millersburg and Deneige King of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; two sons, Michael (Karen) Parenteau of New Baltimore, Mich., and Thomas (Maria) Parenteau of Little Rock, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris (Joe) Padden of New Orleans, La., and Theresa (David) Hildebrant of Brighton, Mich.He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerome and Robert; one daughter, Diane Parenteau; and one sister, Pauline Daniels.A memorial Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Onaway, with the Rev. Thomas Dominiak officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Millersburg.The family suggests memorial contributions to the Hospice of Michigan, Northeastern Region, 112 W.
