ATTLEBORO - Roland J. ''Rollie'' Pariseau, 94, died Monday. He was the husband of Viola (LeBlanc) Pariseau for 69 years. Mr. Pariseau was born in Providence, R.I., and attended St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, R.I., and LaSalle Military Academy in Long Island, N.Y., where he excelled in football, ice hockey, baseball and track. He earned a bachelor's from Providence College in three years while working at the family bakery, Pariseau's Ideal Bakery, and playing in an orchestra on weekends. He was an accomplished musician, playing both saxophone and clarinet. After beginning as an assistant coach at Attleboro High School, he began coaching football with his brother Gig at St. Raphael Academy in the mid-1940s. In 1951 they moved to Pawtucket East-Tolman High School, where they coached undefeated teams and several future college and professional football players. He coached football, hockey and swimming and taught math at the school for 27 years until his retirement in 1978. He was the founder of the Rhode Island Interscholastic Injury Fund and was recognized for his dedication to coaching and teaching with several awards, including induction in the City of Pawtucket's Hall of Fame, the Rhode Island Interscholastic Football Coaches Hall of Fame, the Rhode Island Gridiron Club Hall of Fame and the Attleboro Area Football Hall of Fame. Beyond the right-field fence at the PawSox McCoy Stadium is Pariseau Field, named in honor of Mr. Pariseau and his brother. Throughout his life he had a great love of ice hockey. He skated the frozen ponds of Attleboro as a child, in Sunday hockey games with the brothers at LaSallette and as a member of the Rhody Oldies, with whom he played until age 88. Besides his wife, survivors include four children, Richard Pariseau of Arlington, Va., Robert Pariseau of Brewster, Lynne Kavanagh of Groton and Joan Woodbury of Attleboro; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Lucille Pariseau of Cranston, R.I.; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Commonwealth Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave, North Attleboro. A funeral will proceed at 8:45 a.m. Friday from the funeral home to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, South Main St., Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
