Eugene G. PAUL

SPRINGFIELD - Eugene G. Paul, 91, formerly of Drew Court in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield died Monday December 19, 2005 in Heritage Hall Nursing Home, South, Agawam. Eugene was a postal clerk at the Tapley Street Annex for 30 years and retired in 1975. Born in Plattsburg, NY on July 31, 1914 he was the son of the late Peter and Lohhronie (Hebert) Paul. He was a graduate of the High School of Commerce, residing in Springfield most of his life, and was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Church. He served his country during W.W. II with the United States Navy attaining the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate 3rd Class. He received the American Theatre Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, and the W.W. II Victory Medal. He was a volunteer for 20 years at the Shriner's Hospital for Children, a life member of the Indian Orchard Masonic Lodge, the American Legion Post 430 of Springfield, the Disabled American Vets, and the Chicopee Lodge of Elks, and AARP. He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years Anna (Fitzgerald) Paul. Eugene is survived by 3 daughters, Ann Kavanaugh and her husband Thomas of East Longmeadow; Judith Pepper and her husband Robert of Springfield, and Barbara Gravel of Chelsea, AL; a sister, Viola Houle of Agawam; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and a special friend Lillian Call of Westfield. Eugene's funeral will be Thursday morning 10:00 a.m. at Sampson's Funeral Home 710 Liberty Street, Springfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Church, Armory Street, Springfield. Burial to follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Avenue, Indian Orchard.
