ALPENA, Mich. - Barbara K. Vanier, 71, of Alpena, Mich., passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 at home following an extended illness.Barbara Pietrzak was born June 1, 1934 in Cheboygan to Michael and Katherine (Debski) Pietrzak. She had retired from Huron Valley Hospital in Commerce, Mich., and moved to the Alpena area in 1999. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Barbara is survived by seven children, Michael Vanier of South Lyon, Mich., Robert Vanier Jr. of Cheboygan, Christopher Vanier of Alpena, Timothy Vanier of Alpena, Clare Gorski of Las Vegas, Nev., Renae Vanier of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and Paul (Angi) Vanier of Olympia, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Celeste Waller.Barbara Vanier is at McWilliams Funeral Home - Alpena, where friends called from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, where a parish prayer service took place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today, Sept. 19. 2005, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Alpena, where the funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. today, with the Rev.
