PILON, Dr. James E. - Of Grand Blanc, age 68, died Sunday, June 5, 2005 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM, Wednesday June 8, 2005 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street in Flint, Father Douglas Osborn officiating. Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to St. John Vianney Memorial Fund or St. John Vianney School. Visitation 5-8PM Monday and 12-3PM and 5-8PM Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Dr. James E. Pilon will be at the church from 10AM Wednesday until the time of the Mass. James was born in Flint, Michigan on November 10, 1936, the son of Dr. Roy and Ellen (St. Martin) Pilon. James was Cum Laude graduate of St. John Vianney High School in 1955 were he was class president. James also achieved the merit badge of Eagle Scout in his youth. He married Sharon L. Murray on June 13, 1959. They lived in Milwaukee, WI while he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Marquette University School of Dentistry. They returned to Flint in 1962 to raise their family and begin his dental practice. Dr. Pilon practiced dentistry for 42 years in the family dental practice first with his father, Dr. Roy O. Pilon and later was joined by his daughter, Dr. Janice E. Pilon. In 1998, he established the Denture studio where he practiced until his retirement in 2004. Dr. Pilon was also a life time member of the Genesee District Dental Society and served as secretary from 1964-1965. Dr. Pilon served as director of The Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting program at Mott Community College from 1969-1974. He provided services for the Genesee County Juvenile Home from 1962-1989. James had many gifts and talents with a particular love for woodworking, clock making and restoration. He was a man of deep faith in God and lived out his faithfulness through his great love for his family. James was a member of St. John Vianney Parish for 55 years where he served as an usher. He was his family's hero as a father, Papa and brother. Papa was often seen with his eight grandchildren in tow. James will be so deeply missed by his children, Jeffrey and wife Susan Pilon of Grand Blanc, Dr. Janice Pilon and her husband Dr. Paul Decker of Grand Blanc, Jennifer and husband Paul Lipinski of Canton, Michigan; grandchildren, Samantha, Brandon and Andrea Pilon, Katie and Reilly Decker, Sarah, Nicholas and Alex Lipinski; Sister, Jane and husband Robert Bellairs of Grand Blanc; Brothers, Deacon Timothy and wife Claudette Pilon of East Jordan, David Pilon of Florida; Sisters-in-law, Marilyn and husband Jerome of Grand Rapids, June and John Osmer of Lansing, and Karyn Pilon of Flushing. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon and parents, Roy and Ellen. Published in the Flint Journal from 6/6/2005 - 6/8/2005.
