John Frederick PIQUETTE

MISSOULA - John Frederick Piquette was born March 23, 1946, to James Field and Elizabeth Irene Piquette in Missoula. He died peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends, at St. Patrick Hospital on Saturday, July 16, 2005, after courageously enduring the ravages of Lou Gehrig's disease for four years and eight months.John is survived by the love of his life, Malinda Piquette; daughter, Colet Bartow (Mike) of Manhattan; son, Brian Piquette (Kirstin) of Seattle; daughter, Emily Piquette of Missoula; and daughter, Yvonne Field of Amherst, Mass. He is also survived by his Aunt Marge Harrity (Jack); sister, Caroline Uphill (Tom); brother, James Piquette (Kathy); sister, Margie Gilder; sister, Charlene Nusman; and sister, Michelle Pfister (Greg). Five grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews will also miss his presence.For the majority of his professional career (which started at the age of 11) John worked in food service production and management. He was a dishwasher, baker, butcher, culinary arts teacher, institutional food service director and international consultant. He also worked in hospital administration, insurance and real estate. John lived and worked for the majority of his career in Missoula, however, for much of the past 19 years he lived and worked in his second home, Taiwan, and in the Middle East. John was not simply a food service manager or teacher; he was a man with many interests and talents. His interests included raising livestock, sailing, hunting, photography, woodworking, to name a few, as well as observing the human condition.His talents were numerous: singer, writer, speaker, comedian, mentor, manager, leader, teacher, father, brother, humanitarian, listener, observer and storyteller.A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Christian Life Center, 3801 Russell St. Frank Matule will officiate on behalf of Spirit of Peace Community.The family requests that memorial donations be sent to MDA/ALS Division, 1-888-HELP-MDA (1-888-435-7632), National Headquarters 3300 E.
