Ernest R. POMERLEAU

Ernest R. Pomerleau – age 85, of Amherst Street, died May 19, 2005 at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Augusta, Maine on June 9, 1919 the son of Aime Pomerleau and Delvina (Grenier) Pomerleau. Mr. Pomerleau was educated in Augusta schools and served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Statler Tissue Company for 34 years. He was previously employed by Bates Manufacturing Company and Hallowell Shoe Company. He enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Red Sox fan. Mr. Pomerleau was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Happy Family Senior Citizens, Cushnoc Senior Citizens and a life member of the Calumet Club. His wife, Doris (Roderick) Pomerleau, predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donald and Richard, and three sisters, Grace Demos, Emerentienne Tondreau and Germaine Pomerleau. Survivors include a son, Raymond J. Pomerleau and his wife Gail of East Baldwin; a daughter, Jeanne Raynes and her husband Ronald of Augusta; five grandchildren: Penny Hamilton and her husband Al, Debra Pomerleau, Janet McIver and her husband Mike, Steve Daniels and David Daniels and his wife Karen; three step-grandchildren: Melissa Child, Jenny Raynes and Judy Raynes; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Sunday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 7 PM to offer a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
