Fort Ann -- Richard Paul Potvin Sr., 66, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at the home of his daughter Tammy and son-in-law Glenn Atchinson. Born on Aug. 31, 1939, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Arthur and Evelyn (Caprood) Potvin. At one time he was employed at Finch, Pruyn as an electrician. Following his employment at Finch Pruyn, Richard moved to Florida for several years, returning in 2000. He enjoyed spending time with his family. His hobbies included fishing, camping and his latest being NASCAR racing. Richard was a member of the South Glens Falls Eagles Club. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Rita Johnson and Bonnie Leroux, and a grandson, Jeffery Paul Gray Jr. Survivors include his children, Tammy Atchinson and her husband, Glenn, of Fort Ann, Terry Potvin and her companion, Jeff Jock, of Glens Falls, Wendy Beaudette and her husband, Chris, of Hudson Falls, Richard Potvin Jr. and his wife, Barb, of South Glens Falls, Deanna Beyer and her husband, Jeff, of Minnesota, and Laurie Potvin and her companion, Matt Stumpf, of Queensbury; 13 grandchildren, Ryan Potvin, Lexis Atchinson, Harleigh Gray, Matthew Gray, Chasity Potvin, Chad Murphy, Christopher Murphy, Cassandra Potvin, Julia Potvin, Stacey Potvin, Damien Varmette, Andrew Hamelin and Joshua Hamelin; two great-grandchildren, Kaela Stover and Kaylee Bacon; and his longtime friend, Robert Cavanaugh of Fort Ann. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home. Those who wish may send a remembrance in his name to Washington County Hospice, 415 Lower Main St., Hudson Falls, NY 12839 or to the American Diabetes Association, Capital District Chapter, 77 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205. Following the burial at Southside Cemetery a gathering will take place at the home of Richard and Barb Potvin in South Glens Falls. The family would like to thank Dr. Hoffman, Washington County Hospice and the Glens Falls Hospital Oncology Unit for the care and compassion given to Richard during his illness.Published in the Post-Star on 12/2/2005.
