Jeanne A. PRIDEAUX

ETTER, A. JEANNE A memorial service was held in Eugene on July 20, 2005, for A. Jeanne Etter of Eugene, who died on July 13 of intestinal failure complications. She was 62. Jeanne was born April 4, 1943, in Portland to John and Beth (Joy) Prideaux. On June 14, 1964, she married John Etter in her hometown of Lyons. She graduated from Stayton High School, attended Earlham College (Ind.) and the University of Oregon, ultimately receiving a Ph.D. in social psychology from Columbia Pacific University. She taught at North Eugene High School, pioneered the process of open adoption which lead to the founding of Open Adoption and Family Services. Later she organized Teamwork for Children, which adapted the mediation process in open adoption to adoption of foster children out of the foster care system. She was nationally recognized as an innovator in both areas. Jeanne enjoyed reading, traveling, music, and camping, and had a charisma that resulted in many good friends. She was a life long member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), but in recent years attended the Bethel Temple Church until a disabling illness in 2001. Survivors include her husband, John of Eugene; daughters, Keri Lake and Angela Etter of Eugene; brother, David Prideaux of Oregon City; sister, Joy Prideaux of Lake Oswego; and three grandchildren
