HAMILTON -- Clifford R. Provost Jr. passed away Monday at home.Born in Trenton, Mr. Provost was a lifelong area resident and a member of St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church.A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Provost served in the 7th Armored Division as a tank driver and was a recipient of the Medal of Verdun.He retired from Royal Liquors after 26 1/2 years of service, was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed playing cards.Predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Mona Provost, his wife of 38 years, Dorothy F. Provost, his son of 11 years, Richard James Provost, three brothers, Frank, Robert and Arthur, a sister, Beatrice Clayton and his brother-in-law, John Forrester.He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and David Strong of Hamilton and Joy and Emory Neal Jr. of Yardville; two granddaughters, Kimberley Anne Strong and her fiance, Dominick Giagnacovo and Jennifer Lynn and Bryan Laurendeau; two grandsons, Christopher Richard and Zachary Ryan Neal; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Johnny Sondej of Hamilton, Henrietta Forrester of Trenton and Becky and Henry Sampson of Florida; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Catherine and Henry Grant; a brother-in-law, Robert Kucay of Hamilton; his aunt, Helen Aversano of Marlton; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Friday at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. from St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, 3500 S. Broad St., Trenton.Burial will follow in St. Mary's Assumption #2 Cemetery, Hamilton.Family and friends may call 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Saul Colonial Home.In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Provost's name may be made to the Bible Baptist Church, 1934 Klockner Road, Mercerville, NJ 08619.Published in The Times, Trenton, on 6/14/2005.
