Frederich W. REMILLARD

ITHACA - Frederich W. Remillard, 64, of East Shore Drive, Ithaca, NY, died early Saturday morning, February 19, 2005, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in the Town of Danby.Born March 16, 1940 in Munich, Germany, he was the son of Alfred Remillard of San Jose, California and the late Ida (nee Zimmermann) Remillard. Fred completed his early education in Italy and continued his studies at Kent State. He received a BS in Marketing, graduating in 1965 and then received his Master's Degree in International Marketing from Case Western Reserve University in 1968. He began his remarkable career with General Electric, Cleveland, Ohio, and in 1970 accepted a position with General Motors, Detroit, Michigan. In 1979, he purchased his first two McDonald's Restaurants in Elmira and Southport, New York. His ownership of ten additional McDonald's Restaurants followed, with locations in Elmira, Ithaca, Binghamton and Hallstead, Pennsylvania. His accomplishments within the McDonalds Restaurant chain include 25 years McDonald's Operator, Chairman of Purchasing Committee-Golden State Foods for 17 years, Co-op President for several four-year terms, Opnad Member for six years and served on the Administrative Council. He also represented Upstate New York on National Government Affairs for several terms, was a State Representative of The New York State Political Action Committee and was a recipient of the Ronald Award.In addition to his father, survivors include his sister Elfriede Remillard, Brentwood, California; his son, David Cima, Chesterfield, Virginia; his daughter, Laura Cima, Ithaca; his stepson, Kyle Flanagan, Tarzana, California; a granddaughter, Ashley Alex Cima; and a host of very close friends.Funeral services will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at The Lansing United Methodist Church, 32 Brickyard Road, Lansing, N.Y. Rev. Bud Dolch will officiate. Interment will be private.
