Rivard, James P. -- Linwood, Michigan-- Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great grandfather, and brother passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Huron Woods Nursing Center following a brief illness. He was born March 25, 1923 to the late Phillip & Mary (Dubis) Rivard. He married the former Alice D. Szafranski on September 2, 1944 at St. Valentines Catholic Church, Beaver. She survives him. Jim owned and operated Rivard's Furniture for 52 years, past Grand Knight and charter member of K of C Council #3505, charter member of Linwood Lions Club, and member of St. Anne Parish. He enjoyed gardening and restoring and collecting antique cars. In addition to his wife of 61 years he is survived by 5 daughters: Sandy (Wayne) Wackerle, Nancy (Clayton) Sauve, Marcia (Gary) Bowsher, Connie (Randy) Hadd, and Michelle (Jerry) Knochel; 12 grandchildren: Lee II (Tammi) Wackerle, Brad Weaver, John (Kathy) Hadd, Amy (Steve) Chosay, Rhonda (Matt) Richards, Amanda Hadd, Greg Hadd, Brian Bowsher, Brent Bowsher, Jeremy Knochel, Emily Knochel, and Cassie Knochel; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Dolly Pashask; brother-in-law, Raymond & Joann Szafranski; sister-in-law, Pauline Rivard. He was predeceased by his parents; 3 brothers: Leo Rivard, Donald Rivard, and Francis (Jean) Rivard; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Donald Pashask, and Margie (Willard) Henson. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at 10 a.m. from St. Anne Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Kowalczyk presiding with burial in St. Anne Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. A Vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening followed by a K of C Bible presentation. On Wednesday Mr. Rivard will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. until time of services. Those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Anne's Building Fund.
