Wayne Howard Rivet, age 59, passed Sunday April 24th at 5:40 a.m. at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Wayne Rivet was born on October 4, 1945 at the Westside General Hospital in St. Paul, MN to Bernard and Lois Rivet. Wayne Rivet attended school throughout MN and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of MN. In Jan. of 1964 Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Technician and was honorably discharged in March of 1970. He later went on to graduate with his MBA at UND in GF, where he also taught an undergraduate class. Wayne, A.K.A. (POPS), lovingly left behind two successors; sons: Thomas Edward Rivet of Fargo, and James Allen Rivet of GF. Throughout his days he blessed the lives of many with his charm and intelligence, and was often called ""silver-tongued' by those who knew him the most. Wayne was thought of as a kind and gentle man of many wise words, helping all those who simply asked with haste. Pops often considered others well before himself and at times turned his home into a ""bed & breakfast' for his and his sons' friends. Wayne decided to be a walking blessing and that goal has been, for the most part, achieved. The family believes he can rest easy now. Memorial Services: 10:15 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. www.amundsonfuneralhome.com Amundson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Published in the Grand Forks Herald on 4/26/2005.
