NORTH ADAMS -- Dorothy M. Gageant, 87, of 34 Phelps Ave. died Thursday at home. Born in Adams on July 14, 1918, daughter of Philias and Lillian Perrault Sauve, she attended schools there. Mrs. Gageant was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and active in its parish, including sewing items and making crafts for its events. She was a member of a quilting group. Her husband, George Joseph Gageant, whom she married July 1, 1942, in Notre Dame Church in Adams, died Oct. 27, 1996. She leaves two daughters, Cynthia Richard of Williamstown and Patricia Dodge of Dallas; two sons, Robert Henry Gageant of North Adams and Russell Allen Gageant of Philadelphia; a sister, Annette Ferrera of Adams; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Dorothy Sauve Gageant, who died Dec. 15, 2005, will be Monday at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home. Survivors also include two sons-in-law, Peter Richard and Robert Dodge; two daughters-in-law, Linda and Lucille Gageant; nine grandchildren, Todd and Jason Richard, Stephen, Carl and Daniel Gageant, Meagan and Monica Dodge, Christie Romano and Dominique Gageant, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Sauve, and four sisters, Rita Rougeau, Lorraine Magnant, Norma Fortier and Lucille Sauve. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.Published in The Berkshire Eagle on 12/17/2005.
