Marilyn Elizabeth SCHRACK

ELIZABETH HEBERT, 56, died on Sep 18, 2005 in Ann Arbor after a 2.5 year fight with heart cancer. Born Marilyn Elizabeth Schrack, on Nov 10, 1948 in Sandusky, OH, lived in Vermillion, to George Warren Schrack and Evelyn Elizabeth Salisbury. In 1971 she received a BS in Design from the Univ of Cincinnati. After classes at Olivet College, she received an MA in Arts in 1983 at Eastern Mich Univ and was at the UM School of Art in 1984 and 1986. A beautiful blue-eyed blond model, Elizabeth was an Assistant Fashion Coordinator at Higbee's, Cleveland, OH from 1968 - 71, Assistant Buyer at Lamson's in Toledo in 1971 - 72, and Society Editor / Feature Writer at the Albion Evening Recorder from 1972 - 75. In 1976, she became the Art Teacher at Northwest High School in Jackson, MI, rising to Department Chairperson. "EB" was a rigorous, joyful, engaging and loved teacher sending students to prestigious Art colleges. In 1984 she moved to Ann Arbor where she met husband Greg, and continued to teach until 2005. Elizabeth was the Co-Founder of the MI Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters, a Deacon at the Congregational Church, active in the Democratic Party, Clean Water Action, and Greenpeace. A meditator, she was an intense supporter of ecological and animal welfare efforts, photographer and runner, sailor through the UM Sailing Club, and skier. She is survived by her loving husband, Greg, daughter Adri, son Theo, and stepbrother Carl Patton. A gifted artist, she designed clothing, wood block printing, pottery, sculpting, medical illustration, and painted in acrylic and pastel. Her work will be on display at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Ave. at William, Ann Arbor, MI (734) 663-3375, 4-8 on Thursday, Sep. 22, and 3-8 on Friday. Funeral on Saturday, Sep. 24, at the First Congregational Church, 608 E.
