BEND, Ore. — Kathleen (Shannon) Pelletier, age 60, of Bend, Ore., died at home on Tuesday, May 24, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was married to Louis Pelletier for 35 years.Kathleen was born in Lawrence, Mass, the daughter of Patrick E. Shannon and Eleanor Raidy Shannon. She attended St. Mary's High School, Merrimack College, and Catholic University in Washington, D.C. After graduation from Merrimack College in 1967, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines.Mrs. Pelletier worked as a librarian and a teacher in the U.S. and Germany. She and her husband lived and worked in Germany and Tunisia, as well as Maryland and Arizona. She enjoyed writing, reading, travel, outdoor activities, and her pet cat and dog.Survivors include her husband; one brother, Thomas Shannon and his wife Kathleen Shannon of Andover; three sisters, Mary Damphousse and her husband Roger Damphousse of Nashua, N.H., Eileen Shannon and her husband Robert Matthews of Andover, and Geraldine Shannon and her husband Dennis O'Connor of Arlington, Va.; and 17 nieces and nephews. Her parents and a brother, Edward Shannon, predeceased her.ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to the committal and blessing of her ashes at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 3, at St. Mary's Section of the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, Mass., followed by a funeral Mass at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church on High Vale Lane in Andover. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Oregon Hospice, 2698 NE Courtney Drive, Suite 101, Bend, OR 97701, or the Hospice of your choice. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Dewhirst and Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St., Andover.
