June Mildred Smith Dumont passed from this life Sunday, December 18, 2005, in Sacramento. June was born June 1, 1924, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on her mother's 24th birthday. The third of eight children, June was strong-willed from birth. A remarkably intelligent woman, June would have easily become an outstanding college professor, physician, or lawyer, but chose to become a homemaker, a devoted wife to her husband Kenneth, and a loving mother to her sons Ronald, Howard, and Kenneth Jr. Her culinary skills were the envy of her sisters. June was involved in the ladies league of her husband's senior softball team from the 1990's through 2002. Her beloved son, Howard, preceded her in death shortly before Thanksgiving, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her siblings, Howard, Margaretta, Dorothy, Betty Jane, and Ted. June's mother, Viola, passed away December 8, 1981, 24 years and 10 days before her daughter. June leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 58 years, Kenneth; sons Ronald and Kenneth Jr.; grandchildren Melissa and James; sisters Henrietta Reinartz of Missouri and Mildred Roper of Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.''For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly, more dearly than the spoken word can tell.'' Published in the Sacramento Bee on 12/31/2005.
