Labbe, Maxine D. (Mehaffey) Mickey -- Lansing, MI Age 82, died on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Hospice House of Mid- Michigan with her family by her side. She was born on August 13, 1922 in Midland, MI, a daughter of Edward B. and GeorgeAnna (McGinnis) Solosky. Maxine was a graduate of University of Michigan Nursing School and received her Master's in Public Health from the U of M. She was a member of the Alumni Association and a huge fan of Wolverine Football. She began her nursing career at Michigan Children's Institute -Ann Arbor, had worked for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Michigan, was a school nurse at Otto Middle School in Lansing, and was a volunteer for American Red Cross where she had been trained in Disaster Response Nursing. Maxine was a charter member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and in her later years was active in the Befriend ministry at St. Gerard's. Her hobbies included traveling the World, golf, sewing, knitting, and playing cards. She was a life member of The Country Club of Lansing and was a member of the Bridge Mara thon group at the Country Club. When she wasn't playing Bridge she was playing 13 Rummy. Maxine was also a member of the Lansing Symphony and a volunteer at the Lansing Art Gallery. To meet Maxine was to be her friend. Most important to Maxine was her family. She cherished time with her chil dren and grandchildren and was very proud of their accom plishments. Survivors include her son, Mark (Rose Marie) Mehaffey of Williamston and her daughter, Dr. Kyle (Dr. Daniel) Gulick of East Lansing; three grandchildren, Travis, Thomas, and Tyler Gulick; one sister, Ruth Ann McKeith of Midland and several nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Howard Mehaffey; her second husband, Dr. Arnold Labbe, her parents and her brother, Edward Harvey Solosky. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. John P. Klein at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2005 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing. The Rite of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Estes- Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Thursday 5-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary. Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in loving memory of Maxine D. Labbe, to the St. Vincent's Home for Children or to Hospice House of Mid- Michigan.
