MANCHESTER -- Claire F. (Soucy) Kenney, 61, of Beech Street in Manchester and relative of area residents, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Catholic Medical Center. She was born in Nashua on Nov. 6, 1933, a daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Boucher) Soucy. She had been a resident of Manchester for the past three years, prior to which she had been a resident of Nashua and Litchfield. Mrs. Kenney was the wife of Robert Kenney, whom she married on Sept. 4, 1964. She and her husband celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last September. Most recently, she had been employed at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare. She retired in 1994, and she also received an award as Exemplary Employee that same year. She started at Greenbriar as a nurse's aide and when she retired, she was an administrative assistant. Prior to her work at Greenbriar, she had worked for Sprague Electric for 19 years. She was very devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At one time, she had served as secretary for the Association for the Blind, and she was also the vice president of the housing association at Cedar House, where she lived. She was an avid cribbage player and played in the cribbage league at the Nashua Senior Activity Center. She loved music and in her younger years played the piano. Mrs. Kenney was very proud of having received her Graduate Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) in 1987. She had recently been taking classes at Hesser College. She was predeceased by a stepson, Craig Kenney; and brother, Roland Soucy. In addition to her husband of 40 years, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Dionne of Hudson and Douglas and Ann Kenney of Hillsboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Michael McCaugney and Denise and John Matte, all of Nashua; a stepdaughter, Linda Allard, and her husband, Phil, of Concord; a stepson, Michael Kenney of Hudson; her grandchildren, Kirsten and Tayla Dionne, both of Hudson, Jake Kenney of Hillsboro, Ryan McCaugney of Nashua, Cheryl and Scott Potvin of Goffstown, Jonathan and Danielle Matte, both of Nashua, Michelle and Matt Durling of Sanborton, Cayla Kenney of Hudson, Ryan Kenney of Nashua and Nicole Kenney of Ohio; her great-grandchildren, Cody Potvin, Tyler Holmes, Riley Durling, and Austin Kenney; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Della and Gene Doherty of Nashua and Marguerite Dionne of Nashua; a brother, Albert Soucy of Nashua; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Richard Kenney of Sanford, Maine, Ida Soucy and Ruth Dyer, both of Nashua; many dear friends including Dot Nixon of Litchfield and Paul and Kathy Lemire of Litchfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will not be held. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, 382 Beech St., Manchester. Burial will be held privately.
