GROVETON - Christy Marie St. Onge, 25, of Lost Nation Road, Groveton, died on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 at Weeks Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side after a very courageous 14 month battle with cancer.Born on March 19, 1979 in Lancaster, a daughter of Michael R. and Kathy A. (Miles) St. Onge, she was a lifelong resident of Groveton.Christy was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1997. She then went to Berlin Vo-tech for two years before attending Vermont Technical College to become a Veterinarian Assistant and graduating with her associateÕs degree in 2001. After college she worked for a while at the Amherst Animal Hospital in Amherst, then she went to work at the Breckenridge Manor in Virginia Beach, Va. She returned home and went to work as a Medical Records and Histology Clerk at Weeks Memorial Hospital, Lancaster.She was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church and of the American Legion Fredonwarell Auxiliary Post #17, Groveton.She loved horses, being outdoors, snow machining, four-wheeling, and caring for animals. She also enjoyed making blankets and had her own directions called ÒChristyÕs way of making blankets.Ó Family members include her parents, Michael and Kathy St. Onge of Groveton; her sister and brother-in-law, Casey and Brian Dowland of Guildhall, Vt.; paternal grandfather, Norice St. Onge; maternal grandparents, David and Shirley Miles, all of Groveton; her Òchild,Ó Maverick; two uncles and wives, Dave and Elizabeth Miles of Merrimack, and Mark and Kim Miles of Erie, Penn.; and four cousins, Derek, Devin, Taylor and Brooker. Her paternal grandmother, Pauline St. Onge died on July 22, 2004.At ChristyÕs request, there were no calling hours. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Groveton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Peter Parent, pastor and the Rev. Richard Phillips officiating.
