SANTA BARBARA, CA - Madeline (nee: Suelflohn) Barbeau left the company of her loving family after a long illness and went to meet the Lord on Wednesday, September 21, 2005. Madeline was born on August 15, 1930, in Milwaukee, the eldest daughter of William and Magdalene (Maude) Suelflohn. While still in high school, she met Edmund Barbeau. They were married on September 1, 1951, and their love affair lasted for over 54 years. Madeline worked as a unit manager at Cottage Care Center in Santa Barbara, CA, for 20 years. After she retired, she enjoyed crocheting baby blankets for the Linus Society, reading, and playing Uno with her grandchildren. Madeline loved spending summers with Ed at their cottage in northern Wisconsin, and they enjoyed traveling around the United States. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ed; six daughters, five sons and their spouses; and 16 grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on September 26, 2005, at St. Raphael's Church in Goleta. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Barbara, CA, following the Funeral Mass. A rosary and visitation will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2005, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapel in Goleta, CA. Published in the Racine Journal Times on 9/24/2005.
