Leo A. THIBODEAU

SPRINGVALE - Leo A. Thibodeau, 89, died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 29, 2005 at his home. He was born in St. Francis on Feb. 25, 1916, a son of Jean Baptiste and Marie (Boucher) Thibodeau. Leo attended school in St. Francis, Sanford and at St. Ignatius. He was employed at the former Universal Shoe Co. of Sanford, Allied Shoe of Springvale, and later retired from Dover Shoe Co. of Dover, N.H. Prior to enlisting in the Navy as a Seabee during World War II, he was employed at the former South Portland Shipyard. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church, a member of the Springvale Knights of Columbus and a former Grand Knight, as well a charter member of the V.F.W. First and foremost, Leo enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as hunting and fishing. He had summered at Silver Lake in Shapleigh since 1955. Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Mary (Giammarino) Thibodeau of Springvale; daughter, Sandra Valliere and her husband Robert of Sanford; a sister, Lillian Creedon of Sanford; two grandchildren, Kristin Story and her husband Pierce of Wells, and Jennifer Pomerleau and her husband Troy of North Berwick; and his three great-grandchildren Logan, Cameron and Riley Grace Pomerleau. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, in Notre Dame Church, Springvale. Burial will be at a later date.
