LAFAYETTE - Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Joseph "J.B." Trahan, 80, who died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at his residence in Lafayette.The Very Rev. Monsignor Douglas J. Courville, JCL, will conduct the memorial services. A native of Maurice, La. and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Mr. Trahan was a loving, husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Trahan worked for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office as well as the Lafayette City Marshall's Office. He was retired from the Lafayette Fire Department and in his off time, was employed as a barber. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Irene Trahan, the former Irene Mouton; three daughters, Kathleen Broussard and her husband, Paul, of Milton, Rainie Corbitt, of Lafayette, and Tracey Hernandez and her husband, Jeffery, of Maurice; three grandchildren, Jesse E. Hernandez, Torey M. Hernandez and Derek Fontenot; two step-grandchildren, Scott Broussard and Steven Broussard; one sister, Verna Hernandez and her husband, Jude, of Lafayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Leode Trahan and Elrite Romero Trahan; and one brother, Murphy Tahan.The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, especially to Dawana and Betty, for all of their care and compassion in his time of need.In leiu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Trahan's name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.View the obituary and guestbook online at www.mourning.comMartin & Castille Funeral Home Inc. of Lafayette, (337) 234-2311, has been chosen to help with the arrangements.
