Marcelle Vanasse Szafranski, lived a rich and full life and died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes November 21, 2005. She was 85. Marcelle was born in Woonsocket, RI and moved to Central Florida with her husband, Brownie, a US Navy veteran of WWII and an engineer with the then Martin Marietta Company, in 1957. She was a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, active throughout her life in supporting her children and in volunteer work. She is survived by her brother Dr. George Vanasse, an award- winning physicist and a veteran of the Battle of Bastogne; her sisters, Jacqueline and Gisele; her sons, Richard, Michael, Robert, and James, her daughter Kathryn; her grandchildren, Adrienne, Michele, Tanya, Gabrielle, Samantha, Adam, Eric, Kurt, and Amy; and her great grandson, Thomas Parr. She was predeceased by her husband, by her son Thomas, a Jacksonville, Florida police officer killed in the line of duty, and by her granddaughter, Sarah. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations in Marcelle's memory be made by mail to the Sarah Szafranski Endowment Fund, Orlando Regional Healthcare Foundation, 3160 Southgate Commerce Blvd., Suite 50, Orlando, FL 32806, or to the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 5-30, 5530 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207-5161.
