FALL RIVER -- Lucien J. Vermette, 85, of Fall River died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the widower of Laura (Morin) Vermette and the companion of Marie Jacquemet of Somerset. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Napoleon and Clara (La Ferriere) Vermette. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Cathedral. He was a maintenance mechanic for Precision Thread and Pepper Mill and an order picker for Swank's of Taunton. Mr. Vermette was a World War II Army veteran. He liked to play cards, bowl and golf and was a member of the Hidden Hollow Golf, Somerset Holiday Lanes and senior pitch and cribbage leagues. Survivors include his companion; a son, Raymond Vermette of East Providence, R.I.; a sister, Rose Bouchard of Fall River; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of Alphonse, Armand, Leo, Alcide, Emile, Albert, Samuel, Arthur, Antoinette and Dora Vermette. His funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 in St. Mary's Cathedral, Spring Street. Cremation will be at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
