ASHBURNHAM -- Alice “Allie” M. (Walsh) Collette, 84, of 15 Wood Path, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, in HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Fitchburg, on Sept. 2, 1921, the daughter of the late Frederick A. and Alice (Malley) Walsh, and lived in Fitchburg until buying a summer home on Lower Neaukeg in Ashburnham in 1951, and later made it her permanent home in 1973, and lived there ever since. Mrs. Collette was the founder and manager of the John J. Nissen Baking Outlet on Airport Road in Fitchburg, retiring in 1973, after 20 years. She was a member of St. Denis Parish in Ashburnham and formerly was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in West Fitchburg. She was a 1939 graduate of Fitchburg High School, and enjoyed knitting and sewing, was an avid reader and was a former Girl Scout Leader.Mrs. Collette leaves her husband of 58 years, Paul H. Collette Sr.; one son, Paul H. Collette Jr., and his wife, Anne, of Pawcatuck, Conn.; four sons, Kathleen L. Horton, and her husband, David, of North Truro, Lois C. Allen, and her husband, David, of Saco, Maine, Jane LaPointe, and her husband, Robert, of Fitchburg, and Susan M. Rexford, and her husband, Richard, of Ashburnham; seven grandchildren, Brian R. and Elyssa J. Lapointe, David P. and Sarah Allen and Matthew, John and Emily Collette; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Philip, Frederick A., and Paul V. Walsh and one sister, Mariam S. Walsh.COLLETTE -- On Dec. 20, Alice “Allie” M. (Walsh) Collette, 84, of Ashburnham. The funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 23, from Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home (www.masciarellifamilyfuneralhomes.net) 243 Water St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Denis Church, 85 Main St., Ashburnham. Burial will be at a later date in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday, Dec. 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions made to the Gordon E. Erickson Ashburnham Ambulance Fire Rescue Fund, 12 Memorial Drive, Ashburnham, MA 01430; or to the Stevens Memorial Library, 2 Memorial Drive, Ashburnham, MA 01430; or may be left at the funeral home.
