John Dudley GOODE

GOODE, John Dudley - John Dudley Goode passed away February 4, 2009, he was 84 years old. He died at the General & Marine Hospital in Collingwood of pneumonia. He had lung disease for a number of years and was unable to overcome this infection. He will be greatly missed by his wife Joyce, his children Eric, Linda and Richard and his grandchildren Chris (Laura), Ian, Nicole and Stephanie. His brother Larry as well as daughter in-law Janine will miss his company. John was born in Montreal and lived with his family in Westmount. He went to Westmount high and later took Machine Engineering at McGill University. His time at McGill was interrupted by a year in the Army where he went through special training. He graduated in 1947. After graduation he married Joyce and went to Asbestos, PQ to work at John Manville. He later worked at Quebec Iron and Titanium in Sorel, PQ. John took a job with Hatch Associates in Toronto and worked as a consulting engineer until retirement. He become a vice president and contributed a great deal to the company. His major project was the building of Falconbridge Dominicana. He had many interests, most important of which was sailing his boat “Isogon“. He also enjoyed skiing, golf and the many trips he took with his wife Joyce. Visitation was held at FAWCETT FUNERAL HOMES, 82 Pine Street, Collingwood on Saturday, February 7, 2009. At a later date a memorial will be held in Toronto at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
