John MATTHEWS

JOHN MATTHEWS John Matthews, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital, on Saturday, February 7, 2009. He completed half of his 95th year. Born in Egremont Township, son of the late Robert and Mary (Schenk) Matthews. John was an engineer with Knechtel Kabinet Kreations and WDSS. He served on the Hanover Hospital Board of Directors and was chairman for a term. He was a senior of Hanover Missionary Church. Survived by daughter Bonnie and husband John Markovich of Burlington, son Berkley and wife Muriel Matthews of Bramalea, grandchildren Mary Ann, Paul, Nancy, Cathy and Randy, great-grandchildren Mikayla, Luke, Jeffrey, Jason, Jamie, Jacob, Jesse, Victoria, David and Lisa. Predeceased by wife Jean (Ford) Matthews, brother Milford Matthews, sisters Ruby Mattison and Amanda Bell. Visitation will be held at the Hanover Missionary Church on Friday, February 13, 2009 from 11 am - 12 noon, followed by a funeral service at 12 noon. Rev. Peter Gibbins is officiating. Spring Interment in Maple Wood Cemetery, Durham, Ontario. Memorial donations to the Gideon Bible Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
