DELANEY, Edward Joseph ~ Broadcast Veteran - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Joseph Delaney on February 17th, 2009 at the Markham Stouffville Hospital in his 77th year. Edward was born in Ottawa, Ontario on August 28,1931. Edward, better known as Ted or E.J, fought a courageous five month battle to live so that he could continue his most cherished “ employment“ that of taking care of his loving wife of 54 years, Joan. Ted started his long and illustrious Broadcasting career at CKBB in Barrie, Ontario in 1954, then to CKVR-TV , CHCH Television and eventually settling in at CFTO .T.V Toronto in 1960. Ted's career at CFTO -TV /Baton Broadcasting, which spanned over 30 years, was filled with many rewarding accomplishments. Ted was a Mentor to many along the way, having a keen passion for Broadcasting that was unparalleled. Ted is survived by his wife Joan, a loving father to Sandra, Sheila, Sean and Sharon, all thirteen Grandchildren, one Great Grandchild and his sisters Peg Toner and Eileen Campeau who will all miss him dearly. A Funeral Mass for Ted will take place Monday February 23rd, 2009, 11:00am at St. Justin Martyr Parish, 3898 Highway #7 East, Unionville followed by a reception at the Church.
