COHEN, Joel - on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in his 87th year. Husband of the late Bess Cohen and the late Betty Cohen. Father to Daniel, Ellen, Louise, Fred, Ruth and the late Paul Lawrence. Grandfather to Benjamin, Madeleine, Anna, Katherine, Russ, and Ruth Ann. Great-grandfather to Malakai, Zahara, and Ashlin. Father-in-law to Brighid, Lyn, Steve and Derrick. A great adventurer, a lover of nature, a poet, a painter, and an apostle of Einstein, Joel could name almost any classical piece of music on the first note and never stopped tapping his foot to the sound of the big bands. The family will host two casual receptions to honour his spirit. In Toronto on Saturday, February 28 from 2-4 p.m. at the home of Louise and Steve at 29 Woodmount Ave. In Orillia on Saturday, March 7 at the Stephen Leacock Museum, Swanmore Hall from noon - 2 p.m. Many thanks to the compassionate and caring staff at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital.
