MALLATRATT, Gloria Marie - Suddenly, in her 73rd year, Marie passed away at her home in Beaverton. Marie had recently relocated to the town of Beaverton from Lagoon City after the passing of her beloved husband of 47 years, Bill. Marie was active in her new community, working with the ACW at St. Paul's Anglican church where her plum puddings at the Christmas Bazaar were a huge hit. She was a long time member of the Ladies League at Cedarhurst Golf Club, a sport she came to like late in life but with an enthusiasm that was unsurpassed and for which she brought home many trophies over the years. Marie liked nothing better than a home renovation project where she could rip out walls, cover the place in plaster dust and completely reinvent the house. She believed in the absolute equality of women when it was not fashionable or common to do so. In this vein, she and Bill raised three very independent and successful daughters. Marie was the first in her neighbourhood to return to work once her children were all in school. She had a varied career as an executive secretary and assistant starting at her family church of Kingsway United, then on to many years at Jannock Ltd., and finally as assistant to her husband Bill for the Ontario RV Association which they ran from their home in Lagoon City for many years. Marie's great loves were her children and grandchildren, her golf and her dogs. She spoiled her three daughters and her three grandchildren as much as she could. Marie will be sorely missed by: her daughters Amy (Mikel Miller), Susan (Steve Duggan), and Lynne; her grandchildren Brenden, Owen-James and Spencer; her good friends Red and Catherine, Willo and Paul, Mary Lou, Peony, and Charlotte; the ladies at the ACW and at Cedarhurst; her nieces and nephews; and many friends. Memorial visitation will be held at the MANGAN FUNERAL HOME in Beaverton (705-426-5777) on Friday, February 27 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Celebration of Marie's Life will be held at St. Paul's Church in Beaverton on Saturday, February 28 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Ontario Humane Society, the Autism Society Canada, or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
