NEWMAN, John Howard, It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear father and grandfather. John is in his 89th year, affectionatley known as Dump, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at the Shaver Hospital. Beloved hus band of Mollie Newman for 65 years. Loving father of Gini and Tim Rigby and Mary Sue Hull, all of St. Catharines. Brother-in-law to Mardi Newman. Dear Grandfather of Susan (Andrew), Moni (Blain), Tim (Kelly), all of St. Catharines, and Martha (Arthur ), John (Luciana) of Arezzo, Italia. Dump will be lovingly remembered by 13 great-grandchildren. John is predeceased by his sister Mattie Widdicombe and brothers George Duncan Newman and Wilfred Carter Newman. He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Newman was a Partner with Newman Brothers Construction, Past President of the St. Catharines Rowing Club, Board of Directors of the Henley Aquatic Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the (1970) Third World Rowing Champion ships, a charter member of the Gyro Club and a lifelong member of First United Church. He fought a heroic battle with Diabetes for 63 years, perhaps being one of Ontario's last Diabetics to use Pork Insulin, he was a true warrior. The family will rec eive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St., St. Catharines, 905-684-6346 on Thursday, June 24, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Ridley College Chapel, 2 Ridley Rd. on Friday, June 25, 2004 at 10 a.m. Int erment to follow in Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
