ABFAL, John, On Wednesday June 30, 2004 at 66 years of age, after a long illness. Beloved husband of Diane Egerter. Cherished father of Peter and Janet Abfal, Steven and Amanda Abfal, and Marcy and Kyle Morningstar. Devoted grandpa of Jarrod, Brian, Maxwell, Andrew, Zachary and Stefanie. Special brother in law of Carell Egerter and Nancy (Richard) Maguire. Uncle of Paul (Stacey) and Craig Maguire. Predeceased by his parents Adam and Anna, sister Maria and three siblings who died in childhood, a s well as parents in law Leo and Irma Egerter. Born in Djakovo, Croatia, he came to Canada from Untergrombach, Germany at the age of 15. He worked as a baker for 15 years and for W.S. Tyler for 34 years, retiring in 2002. John enjoyed family camping, ballroom dancing, coaching minor soccer, and baking his legendary Christmas cookies. An ardent supporter of children's activities. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate John's life will be held at Memorial United Church, 105 Maple St., ( at Niagara St.) St. Catharines on Tuesday, July 6, at 7 p.m. Those who wish may donate to the Alzheimer Society of Niagara, Linhaven Home or the charity of your choice.
