HESLIP, Winona - Passed away peacefully at Creedan Valley Nursing Home, Creemore, Ontario on Thursday, February 26, 2009, in her 93rd year. Winona (nee Ellis) was the beloved wife of Jack Heslip of Creemore with whom she enjoyed 65 years of marriage, and the cherished mother of Susan and husband Rick Cameron of Bobcaygeon. Nonie was the best grandmother in the world to Katie, Melissa and husband Ben, and was much loved by her great grandchildren Hannah and Ian. She will be dearly missed by sister-in-law Joan Bichan and the rest of the Bichan clan. We will all remember her as she would want us to: as a woman who paddled her own canoe. Winona was an active member of St. John's United Church in Creemore for 60 years. An avid curler, she won many trophies and the highlight of her curling career was an eight-ender in 1963. She enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing and swimming at the cottage in Bobcaygeon. Special thanks to the dedicated staff of Creedan Valley Nursing Home and to Dr. Scott Houston, all of whom went far above and beyond the call of duty in providing such compassionate and professional care. Visitors will be received at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Creemore on Sunday, March 1st between 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service was held at St. John's United Church on Monday, March 2nd at 2:00pm. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer Society or to St. John's United Church in Creemore. 11428844
