Violet McNair of New Liskeard died December 27, 2008 at home with her family. She had been in failing health for two weeks. She was born in Muskoka Township on July 29, 1920 to Olive and Thomas McReynolds. Educated at Hilliardton School, she married Roy Harold McNair in Thornloe on October 2, 1940. Mrs. McNair worked at Hill Clark Francis, was a waitress at Sport Centre and the Kanton Gardens and also drove a school bus until her retirement. Mrs. McNair loved working in her flower garden, the outdoors and nature. Her favourite pets were cats and she also liked playing cards and spent many hours snowmobiling. Mrs. McNair was predeceased by her husband Roy in 1996 and by her parents Thomas and Olive McReynolds. She is survived by her sons Bryan (Bonnie), Barry (Frances) and Rodney (Crystal); eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and by her niece Edrie Ray Bancroft. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service conducted December 30 in the chapel by Reverend Kitty Miller. Pallbearers were B.J. McNair, Tracey McNair, Jeff McNair, Steven McNair, Hubert Williams, Darren Jibb, Austin Green and Brent Lavallee. Burial will be at the New Liskeard Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from Orillia, Burks Falls, Timmins, Nepean, North Bay and Peterborough.
