Gwendolyn Mary WALKER

Gwendolyn Mary Foley of Northdale Manor in New Liskeard died January 12, 2009 at the Temiskaming Hospital. She was born in New Liskeard on October 15, 1927 to Edna and Harold Walker. Educated at SS#3 Dymond Public School and New Liskeard High School, she married Howard Foley at Hillview United Church on September 24, 1947. She moved from town to a farm in Hudson Township in 1967 until 2006 when she moved to the Manor. Mrs. Foley was a registered practical nurse from 1946-1963 and was the office manager for a family business until she retired in 1980. She loved to cook and entertain and bring family and friends together. She loved her crafts and making angels, as well as playing cards and Scrabble. Mrs. Foley was chair of the stewards at Hillview United Church and was a member and president of the United Church Women and the Hudson Women’s Institute. Mrs. Foley was predeceased by her husband on January 10, 2006 at the Temiskaming Hospital; and by her brothers Ivan and Harold Walker. She is survived by her children Pat (Bill) Watt, Sandra (Terry) Fielder, Jim (Patti Jibb) Foley and Steven (Bev Beatty) Foley; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister Ina Wickett; and brothers Wes (Rose Laroque) Walker and Rod (Betty Aichison) Walker. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service conducted by Reverend Kitty Miller at Hillview United Church. Cremation has taken place with the resting place at the new Hudson Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from North Bay, Ottawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Belle River, Dryden, Timmins, Waterloo, Kitchener, Lively, Ireland and Virginiatown. In memorial donations were made to the Northdale Manor, World Accord.
