GRANGER, Doreen Vernice - February 7, 1927 - January 16, 2009 - In Loving Memory of Doreen Granger, a resident of Tehkummah and formerly of Espanola and Gordon Township, died at the Mindemoya Hospital on Friday, January 19, 2009. Doreen was born at Perivale, daughter of the late Norman and Catherine (McAllister) Lewis. She had worked at a variety of jobs in her lifetime, including the turkey plant and the telephone office in Gore Bay as well as a sales clerk in Espanola and at various tourist camps. Doreen loved to bake, enjoyed cooking, quilting and feeding the birds. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives. Doreen is survived by her beloved husband George Granger of Tehkummah, loved and loving mother of Ted and his wife Irene of Espanola, Betty and husband Eric Russell of Tehkummah, Janis and husband Charles Totman of McKerrow and Cathy and husband Perry Bouwmeester of Massey. Proud grandmother of Tammy and Derek, Jeff and Michelle, Jay, Joel, Wesley, Caitlin, Corey and Dustin and great grandchild Logan. Dear sister of Mary Kerhanovich (Earl) of Sault Ste. Marie and Cathy and husband Garth Giffen of Gore Bay. Predeceased by brothers Bill and Arden Lewis and sisters Ina Breathat and Madeline Hollowack. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the CULGIN FUNERAL HOME, Gore Bay on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. If so desired, donations to the Chemo Room at Mindemoya Hospital or the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
