SMITH, L. Jean - Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Hospital Drive, October 1, 2004 in her 94th year. Lillian Jean (nee David) lived many years in Ottawa on Roger Road then moved to Peterborough to reside at Applewood Manor, and then to Princess Gardens. Wife of the late Douglas A. Smith. Beloved mother to Susan Buchanan and her husband Bob, Dr. David Smith and his wife Claudia, and Eric Smith. Dear grandmother to Deborah Carmichael (husband Ian), Jennifer Buchanan (husband James Dol), Barbara Buchanan (husband Darren Sullivan), Duncan Smith, Ryan Smith, Melanie Smith, Fraser Smith and 6 great grandchildren. Sister to Phyllis Harjes (husband Archie), and sister in law Mona David (late husband Ira). Jean graduated with honours in English from Queen's University, the same year as her husband graduated from Commerce, in 1931. From there, she worked as a high school English teacher up to her marriage in 1935. Family and friends will be received at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Sunday October 3, 2004 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. A service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm, Rev. Anne Gowans-Blinn officiating. Interment to take place on Monday October 4, 2004 at Maynard Cemetery, outside of Prescott, Ontario, at 1:00 pm.
