SHEPPARD, Helen Margaret - Life long North Bay resident and retired teacher Helen Sheppard died peacefully at Eastholme, Powassan on Friday, October 15, 2004, at the age of 94 years. The beloved daughter of the late Ralph and Annie Sheppard, Helen was born at North Bay, March 4, 1910. Predeceased by her sister Muriel Blues. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her niece, Helen Purnell of Edmonton and her family. A teacher by profession Miss Sheppard will be remembered by the many students she taught at Harvey Street Public School and at McIntyre Street Public School throughout her 38 year career. She was the first president of the Women Teachers Federation of Ontario. A devoted member of St. Bryce's Anglican Church she was also very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the former Civic Hospital. A dedicated member and Past President of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario, and 65 year member of Nipissing Rebekah Lodge #152. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rebekah Lodge will honour her during a memorial service to be held in the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Funeral services to celebrate Helen's life will be held in St. Bryce's Anglican Church on Monday, October 18th at 11 a.m. If desired, donations to Camp Trillium, camp for terminally ill children, sponsored by the Rebekah and Oddfellows, or St. Bryce's Anglican Church will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
