HURST, George Guy - In the early morning of Thursday, October 21, 2004, George Guy Hurst left this world peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous struggle with lung cancer and a life lived with love, joy and compassion. George was born on September 28th, 1945 in Nanaimo, British Columbia to Hazel Pauline (Jackson) Hurst and George Guy Hurst. Loving husband of Marjorie Ellen (Johnston) Hurst, exceptional Dad to Kim-Ellen, Rachel and Stephanie. Former partner of Leona (Tammy) Graham. Brother of Beverley, Barbara, Rod and Shirley, son-in-law to Mary Ellen Johnston, brother-in-law to Betty and Bill Wakely and Ken and Jean Johnston, uncle to Bonnie and Beth-Ann Wakely, Bryon and Karen Johnston and pet dad to the late Mr. Cat, Frances, Tyler, and Bobbie/y. His career spanned many pursuits but he was most happy running his business, Lift Truck Training Services in St. George. He loved being outside, particularly working in his beautiful vegetable gardens and flower beds, camping in the forest and lakes at Algonquin, on the beach and beside the campfire at The Pinery or Algonquin and in the red canoe on Julian Lake. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 25, 2004 at the NISBETT FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL (600 Monaghan Rd. S.) in Peterborough at 2 p.m., preceded by a visitation at 1 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Saginaw Golf Club (124 Saginaw Parkway) in Cambridge at 11 a.m. In memory of George, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Your absence will be felt always - the intensity of your blue eyes - your tenacity - your love of family and the memories and stories of you will be our comfort, and we will love you forever. 10/23/2004- ID5061648 - Peterborough Examiner
