Albert Edward CORKUM

Mr. Albert Edward Corkum February 7, 1924 - April 26, 2009 CORKUM, Albert Edward 85, Halifax, while surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2009, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Stephen and Bertha (Oakley) Corkum. Albert was a dedicated employee of Coca Cola Limited for 43 years. Upon retirement, he chose to become involved with the Salvation Army Boothe Center, serving the homeless and less fortunate. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and a creative cook. His greatest delight was spending time with his family. After the passing of his wife Rose, and daughter Nancy, Albert continued to be the guiding support to his family. He will always be remembered as an outstanding father and friend to his daughters and their families. He is survived by daughters, Marlene (Rob) Anderson, Prince Edward Island; Kathleen (Andre) Leclerc, Charlene (Arthur) Corkum, all of Halifax; and numerous loving grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his loyal pet Jessie. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Rose Corkum; daughter, Nancy Lynn Shiers; son-in-law, Gary Shiers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday in Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish, formerly St. Stephens Parish, Normandy Drive, officiated by Rev. Mr. Michael Lynch. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment at a later date. At Albert's request, donations in memory may be made to his favortite charities, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
