George MARTIN

Mr. George Martin January 23, 1938 - April 27, 2009 MARTIN, George 71, of Dartmouth, passed away on April 27, 2009, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James and Gertrude (Saunders) Martin. He was retired from the Boilermakers, Local 73, and Imperial Oil. He was active in the Knights of Columbus Council 11456. He volunteered at Woodside United Church Food Bank. He was a friend of Bill W. He is survived by his wife, Norma (Leger); son, Danny (Sheryl), Kingston; daughters, Vicki (Dave) Ellis, Etobicoke, Ont.; Kelly (Shawn) Doyle, Dartmouth; five grandchildren; brothers, William (Mary) Martin, Ottawa, Ont.; brother, Joe (Norma) Martin, Bridgewater; sisters, Dorothy Kiley, Ketch Harbour; Norma Thompson, Spryfield. He was predeceased by infant son, Darryl; brother, Jimmy. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 30, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 320 Flying Cloud Dr., Dartmouth, in the Sophia Room. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 1st, at 11 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church. Reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Diabetes Association.
