Mrs. Bernice Mildred Bertrand (nee Ballard) August 16, 1913 - April 27, 2009 - In her 96 th. year, it is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother on April 27, 2009, Predeceased by her loving husband Gervis (2000), mother Minnie (1972), father Ernest (1965) and brother Richard (1967). Beloved mother of Gail Hunt and husband Pat, Bonnie Trofin and husband Ron and son James. Cherished grandmother to kenneth Hunt and wife Mary Jo, Patricia Carter (nee Hunt) and husband Phillip, Chris Hunt and friend Laura, Tammy Hunt and partner Tony,Brad Hunt and partner Tracey, Todd Beecroft and friend Samantha, Tiffany Trofin, Jeff Bertrand and the late Jill Bertrand (1970) and Laura Beecroft. Adored great grandmother of Matthew Hunt, Jordan and Joshua Hunt, Ashley and Andrew Beecroft, Connor and Jordan Holmes, Ariana Brooks, Hayley and MacKenzie Eisenhardt, Jason, Melissa and Cara Silva. Great-great grandmother of Anthony Silva. Special mom to Sue Bondy. Mrs Bertrand was a graduate of the Hotel Dieu Hospital Nursing Program in 1937. She nursed at both Hotel Dieu Hospital and Metropolitan hospital. In addition, she worked in various dental and chiropractic offices during her career. She was a life long member of All Saints Anglican Church and served as president of the Chancel Guild for many years and left a lasting legacy of service to the Church. Through the years, Bernice showed her caring and compassion nature by acting as a caregiver to many friends and neighbours.Visitation will be held at Victoria Greenlawn Memorial Chapel & Reception Centre (1525 Highway #3, 1 km west of Walker Road 519-969-3939) on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m and Friday May 1, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Kim Van Allen officiating with special assistance from Archdeacon Ron Matthewman. Interment Victoria Memorial Gardens.
