MILLER , Donald (Don) Ivan Don Miller, treasured husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2009. Don was born August 20, 1936 in Grande Prairie, AB. He was proud to serve his family, community, church and country. He was in the sales and service industry his entire career and in semi-retirement enjoyed his work at the tree nurseries in Edmonton, AB and Everett, WA. Don also served as a "Scope Dope" (Fighter Control Operator) in the RCAF. He made time to coach hockey and umpire softball to stay close to his kids and his community. He volunteered his time with the Edmonton Food Executive Club and many church organizations such as Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent De Paul Society and the Inn from the Cold program. Don's character, integrity, determination and pragmatic approach were his trademark. His humour brightened and enriched the lives of those around him. In all the places he lived and in all of his travels, Don never met a stranger. Don is survived by his wife Nonie (nee Laughlin); high school sweethearts, they married in 1958. He is also survived by his three children; Brent (Janet), Jeff (Tammy) and Carmen (John Parsons) and five grandchildren; Zachary, Leah, Kaitlyn, Amy and Ashley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1600 Acadia Drive S.E., Calgary, AB, on April 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Don will be laid to rest in the Field of Honour at Queen's Park Cemetery, Calgary, AB.
