Mr Gerald "Rod" Rodney Booth April 21, 1920 - December 02, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Valley View Funeral Home (Surrey) BOOTH, Gerald Rodney, “Rod” passed away peacefully on December 2, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Born April 21, 1920 in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. Rod is survived by his loving wife Joan, of 61 years; son Chris, daughter Sharon (Allan), son David (Marilyn). Grandchildren: Bryce & Riley Thomas, Lesley Plett and Celina Booth. Rod also leaves behind his brother William (Eileen) Booth and sister Pat Taylor (Al) and nieces and nephews, and relatives abroad. Rod served his country in the Royal Signal Corps during the Second World War. In 1995, he would march with his fellow veterans through Dutch streets in celebration of Holland’s liberation 50 years earlier. Although a prairie boy, Rod loved the ocean and lived out his passion as a life member and Past Commander of the White Rock Power Squadron. He was also Past President of the F. O. E. and a 47-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, 229. Always his own man, Rod was a local contractor. His company Booth Electric served the cummunity over four decades. If it was made of wood, Rod could build it. If it had an engine, Rod could fix it. And when it came to electrical, he was the best troubleshooter around. He never stopped learning new things, “much of his last years where at the computer keyboard, typing his memoirs. He was a peaceful man who lived his life with honor and dignity; and extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, and friend”. We, his family, do not grieve for his loss, we celebrate his life, a life well lived. Memorial service will be held Friday December 10, 2004, 1:30pm at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660-72nd Ave., Surrey, BC. Arrangements entrusted to Valley View Funeral Home.
