(21) Paru le 2005/04/21 dans La Voix de l'Est      QQAT7788 RAYMOND GEORGE RAINVILLE -- HIGHGATE CENTER — Raymond George Rainville, 78, a lifelong Highgate Center resident died early Monday morning, April 18, 2005, in his home on Tarte Road. Born in Highgate Center on, February 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Theophile Jr. and Imelda (Boucher) Rainville. He attended schools in Highgate and Sainte Armand Quebec and on, September 30, 1950, was married to the former Emilienne Parent who predeceased him on, February 9, 1981. On May 20, 1989, he married the former Solange Lafrance who survives him. Raymond was a well-known and respected farmer in Highgate Center as well as a farm and barn equipment salesman. He was the first member of the National Farmers Organization in Vermont and worked diligently to get farmers organized to receive fair milk and beef prices and in 1961 received the State of Vermont Soil Conservation Award. He was a lifelong parishioner of Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Edmund of Canterbury Council, #7669 of Swanton and Highgate. In addition to loving dearly his family and friends Raymond will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, trapping, playing cards, Grade A Fancy Maple Syrup and Sweet Honey. Besides his wife Solange of Highgate Center, Raymond leaves his ten children and their spouses, Denis and Jeanne (Couture) Rainville of Highate Center, Raymonde and Edward Perron of Winooski, Jacques and Jean (Rogers) Rainville of Highgate Center, Claudine and Pierre Deslandes of Swanton, Monique and Clif Zimmerman of Navarre, Florida, Diane and Terry Doe of Berkshire, Muriel and Chris Reed of Fairfield, Linda and Barry Pollander of Jeffersonville, Sylvie Rainville of Saint Albans and Daniel Rainville of Highgate Center; five step children, Stephane and Nathalie (Brazeau) Viens of Montreal, Nathalie Viens of Sainte Damase, France and Stephane (Brazeau) Viens of Montreal, Pierre and Sophie (Blanchette) Viens of Saintdd Damase and Emmanuel and Genevieve (Brillon) Viens of Saint Hyacinthe; twenty eight grandchildren; one brother, Maurice Rainville of Swanton and a sister, Helen Parent and her husband Ulys of Enosburg Falls; two Godsons, Peter Pollander of Jeffersonville and Alex Rainville of Highgate Center and a Goddaughter, Nathalie Parent of Sainte Jerome as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Several brothers and sisters predeceased him. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 23, 2005, at 11 a.m. from Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church, Lamkin Street, Highgate Center. Father Marcel R. Rainville SSE will be the celebrant and homilist and Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will be the homilist. Interment will follow in the Rainville family lot in Saint Louis Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, on Friday, April 22, 2005, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Gifts in Raymond's memory may be made to Saint Anne's Shrine, Isle La Motte 05463 or to the, Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, Saint Albans 05478.
