The death of John Douglas Parks of Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home and formerly of Sweeney Lane, Miramichi , husband of Phyllis Mary (Bell) Parks occurred at the Nursing Home on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the age of 86. Born in Upper Derby, NB, John was the son of the late Alexander Fearon and Muriel (Donald) Parks. John was a veteran of WW11 serving with the R.C.A.F., retired from the Renous Ammunition Depot and School District 16 as a custodian. He was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Newcastle, NB. John loved his time spent with family and friends at the "camp", tending his vegetable gardens and his woodland-simple pleasures he shared with his wife and soul mate of 61 years. Besides his wife, Phyllis, John is survived by one daughter Joanne Chase (Bob) of Dayspring, NS and one son Keith (Sandi) of Lethbridge, AB; four sisters: Winnifred Jardine of Upper Derby, NB, Marion Garland (Ken) of Moncton, NB, Phyllis Johnston (Grant) Burlington, ON and Roma Benson (David) of Ottawa, ON ; twin brother Boyd (Lois) of Miramichi, NB; four grandchildren: Shauna Konynenbelt, Kurt and Kent Parks and Jonathan Chase; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. At John's request there was no visitation at the Funeral Home. A public Memorial Service was held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2 PM from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel with Rev. Roger Estey officiating. Organist and soloist was Jacqueline Allain; Solos: "Precious Lord Take My Hand", "In the Garden" and "Morning Has Broken". Eulogy was given by grandson Jonathan Chase. In John's memory a donation may be made to Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, St. James Presbyterian Church or a memorial of ones choice.
