SIIPOLA, Eeva 2009-05-26 Eeva Elisabeth Siipola (nee Isosaari) passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2009 with family by her side. Eeva was born in Kokkola, Finland on December 27, 1933. She was the 5th eldest of 11 siblings. Eeva is survived by her son, Perry Siipola (Melindie) and twin daughters, Susan Ross (Chris) and Shirley Siipola (Elie). Also to mourn Eeva‘s passing are her 5 grandchildren, Patricia Siipola (Murphy), Linda Ledger (Sean), Matrix Siipola (Kate), Dylan Siipola and Trinity Siipola, 2 great-grandchildren, Tristan and Keira. Also survived by her sister Kaija Heikkinen (Jaska) and brothers Olli, Gunnari and Matti Isosaari and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives as well as her special friends Topi Gylden, Sister-in-law Ankku Isosaari, and good friends Marjatta and Kassu Korte, Eeva Koivu, Seija Makilainen, Rauni Yrjana, Sinnikka and Kauko Ylinen. Eeva was predeceased by her husband Raimo, her parents and several siblings. In 1992, after Raimo’s passing, Eeva moved to Luther Court where she lived until she was hospitalized. She had many good friends and made new friends in the building. There, she liked to help out with Finnish meals for special occasions in the common room, she spent many hours reading. She also enjoyed playing cards with the girls, trying her luck at Bingo and the Casino and spending time with her family and friends and attending church regularly. She also enjoyed her visits to the Suomi Koti Library with Pentti. A Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Eeva loved to brag about her family. She was not shy to share her opinion, and usually would just tell it like it was. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorium service to be held a later date. Donations to the Diabetes Association & The Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff of 4 North at St. Joseph‘s for the wonderful and compassionate care our mother received.
